Hopkins Girls Basketball Association (HGBA) 2020/21 COVID-19 Policy  

If a player exhibits any of the current list of COVID symptoms they are not allowed to participate in HGBA activities until one of the following things happen 

  • Negative COVID test result 

  • Fever free without medicine for 72 hours 

  • Absence of other identified symptoms, without medicine, for 48 hours 

If a player test positive for the virus or is told they have the virus by a doctor., they must stay away from HGBA activities for a minimum of 14 days. They also must meet the above criteria of freedom from symptoms. 

If a member of the player’s household exhibits symptoms, the player is not allowed to participate in HGBA activities until that family member meets the following criteria. 

  • Negative COVID test result 

  • Fever free without medicine for 72 hours 

  • Absence of other identified symptoms, without medicine, for 48 hours 

If a member of the player’s household test positive for the virus or is told they have the virus by a doctor, the player is not allowed to participate in HGBA activities for a minimum of 14 days. They also must meet the above criteria of freedom from symptoms. 

If the player or a member of their household knows or believes they have been in proximity of someone who has symptoms, or tests positive but they don’t live in the same household, the player is allowed to participate in HGBA activities until/unless one of the above situations happens. Families may choose to limit the player’s involvement in this situation. 

Exposure Communication 

If the player or a member of their household knows or believes they have been exposed to COVID-19 and/or is determined to have a positive test for the virus or is told they have the virus by a doctor, the player’s parent or guardian must immediately communicate this to their player’s head coach and Maggie Niska or Tonia Peterson, HGBA Co-Chairs. 

Season Cancellation or Postponement Policy 

Should a player or a member of their household has been determined to have a positive test for the virus or is told they have the virus by a doctor, EVERYONE on that player’s team must refrain from HGBA activities for at least 14-days.  

Should more than two HGBA teams be held back from potential exposure, the HGBA board of directors will have a special meeting to determine if the season should be cancelled or postponed.  

Should the State of Minnesota, Hopkins School District and/or Minnesota Youth Athletic Services (MYAS) determine the season to be cancelled or postponed, HGBA will adhere to those guidelines and communicate accordingly.  

Should the season be cancelled, player registration fees will be refunded based on how much of the season has played and prorated accordingly. However, refunds will be less any funds that are not refunded to HGBA including uniform costs, facility deposits, tournament costs, administration fees etc.
